The Alberta Rockies Gay Rodeo Association, (ARGRA), would like to invite non-profit and commercial organizations to participate in our annual GAY CALGARY & EDMONTON MAGAZINE COUNTRY CARNIVAL.
The Carnival will take place during the upcoming Canadian Rockies International Rodeo held June 30 to July 3, 2011 at the Strathmore Agricultural Grounds.
ARGRA has been bringing our community together through year-round Dances and Activities that culminate in the Canadian Rockies International Rodeo. We are proud to boast that our rodeo is considered one of the Top 10 Rodeo's in all of Canada, the 2nd largest Gay Event in Canada and constantly voted the Favorite Rodeo in the IGRA circuit. This is the one event that gathers over 5,000 people from all walks of life to party and share in the Gay Rodeo experience.
We invite your organization to be a part of that success and benefit from an opportunity to create exposure and/or do a little fund-raising for your group while having a whole lot of fun doing it!! You’ll have access to over 5,000 attendees at the CRIR who are looking for entertaining things to do and want to contribute to the fundraising and awareness efforts of your group.
OVERVIEW
Building on the growing success of our past rodeos, we are dramatically improving the visitor experience this year with a fully themed Midway, Retail and Entertainment Zone. Your interactive Carnival Game Booth will be a part of this exciting new area. We are offering non-profit groups and commercial organizations the opportunity to set up a carnival/midway type game or experience to raise some money, or awareness, or both! Depending on your groups requirements the cost to your organization to set up a table in our Country Carnival area could be as little as zero and all proceeds taken in from your booth will remain with your organization. The $15 per day rodeo gate entry fee will be in effect for everyone and we recommend that you keep the suggested donation of your game or activity to a loonie or a twoonie. Please remember that the game play has to be free, the donation is just that, a donation. Commercial organizations will need to provide a retail item that meets the retail price you are asking for so that you can provide the game play for free. Or you can provide the whole experience for free if you chose to give out a promotional item at no charge. Commercial organizations participation is based on exposure as opposed to donation collecting. You can present a game, but you cannot charge for the play of it, that must be free. This event may be monitored by the AGLC. If you are providing an activity or experience (bounce house or mini golf as an example) then this rule would not apply as this is a retail service.
We also want to remind everyone that this is a family friendly event and every consideration should be made to ensure your activity is in “good taste” and family oriented. It can be fun and camp, just stay away from crude concepts if you plan to build your own game. All Carnival booths will be subject to ARGRA’s approval.
Town Hall
The Canadian Rockies International Rodeo (CRIR) 2011, hosted by The Alberta Rockies Gay Rodeo Association (ARGRA) is the largest gathering of GLBT people in Alberta. It is the 2nd largest Gay event in the country and a renowned event supported by our diversified community. We welcome over 5,000 GLBT and Straight visitors to our rodeo annually and we are consistently growing in draw power every year.
2011 marks a turning point for the CRIR event as we are making a concentrated effort to enhance the Visitor experience at the rodeo with a fully themed "Ghost Town" Midway, Retail & Entertainment Zone. This area will feature a combination of Historic Buildings, Themed Music, Special Lighting & Decoration, Unique Attractions & Experiences, Stage Shows, Retailers, Country Carnival Games, Food Vendors, Adult Retail Experiences, Art Show & Silent Auction and we are proposing, a Town Hall dedicated to our Community Service & Non-Profit Groups.
